This directory contains the history of the SAMP document prior to its
ingestion into the Volute subversion repository.  The history is in
the file

   sampdoc-cvs-history-to-PR20081121.tar.gz

and, as the name suggests, is an archive of the CVS repository directory
in which the files were stored.  The terminal point of this history
is the same as the point of ingestion into Volute, which is the
Version 1.1 IVOA Proposed Recommendation 2008-11-21
(http://www.ivoa.net/Documents/cover/SAMP-20081121.html).

Clearly it would have been better to have done this in such a way that
the history was ingested into the Volute repository as well, but this
does not seem to be possible (cvs2svn works fine; however 
svnadmin load can only be run on the server machine not from a client;
and svnsync can only be used to write to an empty repository).
